Characters

Over time, I have come up with a few original characters just for fun. I'm mostly into visual art and character design, so they're not really tied to any overarching story, nor do they really have too much in terms of a backstory. Nonetheless, I've come up with a few thoughts on them here and there.

I styled this page after Tokimeki Memorial because I felt like it.

Vivienne
My sona! I designed her back in 2022. In many ways she is similar to myself, although her personality is played up like a more exaggerated version of my own. In that sense, she is a touch more confident and mischeivous than myself. But I think as the years have gone on, the gap between her and I has lessened a little bit.

The angel/devil motif was just something I was a little obsessed with at the time, but I do really love it still. As a plus, I think that duality plays well into me being trans ehehe.
Age: 26
Pronouns: she/her
Tinsel
It's Tinsel the snail! Tinsel is a fashionable lady who wears a large shell on her back. Well, she was actually just a snail who found herself transformed into a human via a witch's spell. Despite typically wearing long skirts, she does in fact have two legs.

One would think that undergoing a sudden transformation would be quite shocking, but really she is pretty relaxed about it all. She'd probably be a stoner in another life.

Nobody really quite understands how, but she managed to find a home for herself in a house shaped like her shell.
Age: Like 2
Pronouns: she/her
Laine
A young angel. Laine is an angel who is also pretty new to her duties in heaven. Consequently, she isn't really too aquainted with the whole "be not afraid" thing. What that means in practicality is that she is pretty clumsy with her big golden cruxifix, often drawing controversy by using it as a blunt general-use tool and occasionally, a weapon.
Look. Immortality is pretty new to her and she just loves fucking around. Wouldn't you?

Laine is evidently another symptom of my on and off obsession with angels. The big cross weapon also took some pretty blatant inspiration from May weilding a big anchor in the Guilty Gear series. Sue me.
Age: 21 (time of death)
Pronouns: she/they
The Moon
The Moon themselves. What more can I say? This is the lovely celestial body you see outside your window every night. She carefully watches over half the world at a time, always on the lookout for anything going awry.

Another character from 2022. I think I first drew him on a scrap piece of paper at work around a time where I thought tarot cards looked really sick. I had always intended to draw a Sun counterpart but never got around to it. Maybe soon The Moon will have a sweet boygirlfriendhusband of their own?
Age: 4.53 billion years
Pronouns: Any
Angelica
A young girl now possessed by the demons of vanity. In her earlier days, she had a great obsessesion for the sea and all things nautical, wishing she could one day become a mermaid. Indeed, the demons have granted her wish, albeit not without some caveats... Angelica is able to wield the anchor hooked through her tail like a weapon, making her a truly formiddable foe.

Angelica is my own take on a boss from Treasure Co., Ltd.'s 2001 PS2 game Stretch Panic. I'm a bit obsessed with this game... Regardless, each of the game's twelve bosses are transformed versions of the protagonist Linda's sisters. Each sister usually has some obssesion or interest of theirs that gets heavily incorporated into their design and fighting style.

Anyway, yes. I think I was channelling May with the anchor again...
Age: 10
Pronouns: She/her
Charles
A sleepy but helpful chain chomp. Using his post and chain, he is able to reach out and fetch items across small gaps, as well as pack a formiddable bite in combat.

Charles is my obligatory take on the pastime of "Paper Mario fan designs their own partner". I think I also just wanted to practice the art style. I have definitely seen a lot of chain chomp partner designs around, especially since pre-release Sticker Star footage showed one with a generic design that never made it into the final game. I'm not really sure where the idea to make him sleepy came from, but I thought using that as an excuse to make the chains small clouds worked well.

Also since drawing him I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea so I have decided to make that the reason why while he's sleepy all the time. Fuck it.

King Oyster
Wait... who the fuck is this guy? Excuse you, that's mushroom-octopus royalty you're talking about, thank you very much!

King Oyster is perhaps the oldest character I've designed that I've drawn again as an adult. I drew this guy at school when I was probably something like 11 years old. He had to have been some amalgamation of weird things I found cool at the time. I decided to draw him again from memory in 2018 and its only now (2025) that I'm finally giving him a name. I haven't really given him much thought character-wise, but perhaps I'll work him into something I work on again in future.
